College of Marin Organic Farm
Eco-minded farm facility honors the Marin community’s agricultural roots.
upgrades at the Farm site on the College of Marin’s Indian Valley campus capped a decade of growth for the popular landmark. AMS created three custom modular buildings as a multifunctional resource for the Marin community, each with a sunny, open floorplan flex-designed to support technical education and job training focused on sustainable agriculture. The centerpiece of the project is a state-of-the-art demonstration kitchen that multi-tasks as a teaching classroom where local chefs host organic cooking classes and workshops using fresh produce and herbs from the Farm’s organic garden. Upgraded windows and glass doors bring in sunlight and garden views, connecting multiple spaces for indoor and outdoor learning opportunities.
- Steel-and-concrete construction and stucco exteriors are eco-friendly
- Foldable wall partitions expand or downsize space for multiple uses
- Commercial kitchen features durable materials and stainless appliances
The IVOFG has always been a partnership, so we used the same collaborative team approach to create highly flexible spaces that go beyond the classroom to provide a valuable resource for the Marin community. AMS gave us the modular blueprint to create custom buildings that are space- and cost-efficient, responsibly constructed, comfortable to be in and readily adaptable to a broad range of educational opportunities.
