Inspiring the Future: Hilmar Students Visit the AMS Factory

We don’t just build classrooms at AMS—we build spaces that inspire the next generation of thinkers, makers, and leaders. We recently welcomed 128 of them to our factory for a fun day of creativity, community and hands-on learning.

The future is bright—and it just walked through our doors!

A few weeks ago, we welcomed 128 second-graders from Hilmar Elementary School to our AMS factory in Manteca. They came, teachers and parents in tow, to get a behind-the-scenes look at how—and where—their new modular campus was built.

We wanted to bring the experience to life, show these curious six- and seven-year-olds how their new classrooms went from factory floor to finished vision. They donned hard hats and safety vests and watched the magic unfold—floor to roof, walls to wiring, paneling to plumbing—excited to see how their classrooms were built from the ground-up.

They completed activity books, earned Modular Builder Badges and mastered the Modular Builder Challenge, collecting cards and stickers as they visited activity stations for each step of the modular process. They watched and touched, connected and collaborated, laughed and shared.

They had a lot of fun learning—not just how to build, but how to build together. Modular construction is collaboration in action. It takes many hands to turn individual components into a finished classroom, a powerful lesson for students who’re learning to work creatively and collaboratively in their own classrooms.

Watch along as we take you inside a fun day at the factory!

Building the Future on the Factory Floor

It’s always a special day when students visit the factory. Every class reminds us why we do what we do—and why we love doing it.

It’s more than a field trip; it’s the best kind of hands-on learning, inviting exploration, cultivating creativity and celebrating the value of teamwork.

Connecting with our future leaders gives us the opportunity to nurture their curiosity and share the joy as they discover new things—lessons they can build on and experiences we hope will empower them to create and innovate, to dream big and work with others to make their dreams real.

Their world is filled with possibilities.

Some may be inspired to pursue STEM careers or make advancements in the field of construction. Others may use their imagination to design the buildings of the future… become the sustainable leaders of tomorrow… or invent new technologies that will change our world for the better.

The blueprint for success is teamwork—imagining what’s possible then working together to bring a vision to life.

Living the Vision at Hilmar Elementary

The factory visit brought learning full circle for Hilmar’s second graders, whose GEN7 classrooms were built in our factory last fall—part of Hilmar’s new hybrid campus that consolidates TK-2 programming in an innovative early learning community.

These students started school in outdated portables, learning in overcrowded classrooms with limited space.

Now they learn on a state-of-the-art campus with 25 spacious classrooms in seven modular buildings clustered next to a new administrative/library building—all built to meet the unique needs of 600 early learners. Every day, they experience the value of innovation on a campus that embodies the impact of positive change. A vision brought to life is changing lives in important ways.

  • Classroom “neighborhoods” create age-specific environments for each TK-2 age group.
  • Connected indoor/outdoor learning spaces encourage play and exploration.
  • Energy-efficient design is healthy, safe and comfortable for young children.
  • A high-tech infrastructure inspires connection and collaborative learning.

The transformative design sets a new standard for early education, providing a template for other schools to follow. It originated as a conventional plan, but AMS offered a more economical alternative, modularizing Hilmar’s vision to create the campus they wanted at a cost that made it possible.

Inspiring spaces inspire students. Whether you’re looking to add a single building, multiple buildings or a brand new campus, AMS offers endless possibilities to bring your vision to life.

The future is waiting—let’s get started!
