Hilmar Elementary School

Hilmar, CA

Project Overview

New TK-2 campus turns a unique vision into an affordable reality.

Hilmar USD wanted to consolidate new TK facilities with expanded classroom space for the district’s K-2 students on one centralized campus. To lower costs, AMS modularized the original stick-built plan, delivering seven modular buildings that meet both programming and sustainability goals. The design centerpiece is a custom 8,600-SF AMS EVOLVE admin/library building that creatively mixes module sizes and orientations into a unique concept with striking exterior pop-outs. Six AMS FORM buildings—a combo TK-K wing, a kindergarten wing, two 1st grade wings and two 2nd grade wings—add 25 age-appropriate classrooms opening to a shared outdoor play area. Large windows daylight classrooms while high-efficiency HVAC systems ensure comfort—energy-saving features that cut operating costs.

  • DSA-PC designs reduced build costs and schedule with minimal onsite disruption
  • Open classrooms and high-tech infrastructure support 21st century learning
  • In-classroom restrooms and child-sized fixtures meet state TK requirements
