Project Overview
Custom two-story blends functional support and architectural expression.
The centerpiece of Capri Elementary’s large-scale modernization is a new two-story, two-wing classroom building that mixes educational and specialized spaces to meet the needs of the District’s Campbell-Care curriculum. AMS partnered with CUSD and Aedis Architects to create the 24×40 and 36×40 adjoining wings, a 21,120-SF addition that delivers 18 general and kindergarten classrooms, as well as offices, restrooms and intervention rooms. The highly customized GEN-C design blends functionality with architectural expression, unifying exterior overhangs, eyebrow features, bump-outs, balconies and switchback stairs with the school’s color palette. Durable custom finishes include glazed porcelain tiles and aluminum composite panels that provide visual contrast against the neutral-toned stucco facade.
- Adapting a DSA-approved design made it possible to expedite a large, custom project
- Large low-E windows daylight classrooms, with shade overhangs for interior comfort
- An open floorplan allows spaces to be integrated for a range of educational uses
