Project Overview
New Spanish-style modular addition blends beauty, function and heritage
The historic Gault School has been the heart of its community for more than a century. To match a new modular addition to the Spanish architecture of the traditional campus, AMS partnered with Bartos Architecture, blending old World style and modern amenities in a customized 9,600-SF, two-story AMS FORM building. Design elements evoke the region’s rich cultural heritage—a white stucco façade with a red-tiled mansard roof, Spanish pop-out arches and an open cantilevered balcony. The interior supports modern learning with six open-plan classrooms, a large multipurpose room, warming kitchen and all-gender student/staff section configured to meet student needs in a compact footprint—ideal for a tight site where space is at a premium. A Phase 2 building will scale to match the campus’ signature style.
- Arched pop-outs recall the beauty and charm of a traditional Spanish loggia
- Large windows and LED lights keep classrooms bright and energy-efficient
- Classrooms open to a shared courtyard with dual stairway and elevator access
