Project Overview
Health services building blends student medical, laundry and food pantry.
AMS partnered with 19six Architects to custom design a student health building that meets medical, health counseling and nutritional needs in a compact footprint. A main lobby/office area fronts private exam rooms and lab, with a student laundry and food pantry accessible via separate entrances. The state-of-the-art building uses roof caps to raise the roof to 21’ in key areas, creating high-volume ceilings with motorized clerestory windows paired with storefront windows to maximize daylighting. Upgraded interior finishes include Koroseal and ceramic tile walls, high-gloss FRP panels and LVT over concrete subfloors—low-maintenance, low-VOC options that elevate IAQ. The exterior mixes architectural metal siding and site-applied stucco with metal window canopies and louvered overhangs for sun control.
- Operable windows bring in extra daylight and natural ventilation where needed
- Decorative acoustical ceiling clouds absorb sound in the student laundromat
- Red Mapes panels add architectural style and thermal efficiency to the exterior
