Project Overview
Innovative gardens give Rialto students and community space to learn and heal
Rialto’s International Healing Garden is designed to both soothe and teach in a natural setting. The innovative concept—delivered by AMS, PBK Architects and Rialto USD—turns a vacant corner lot into a mini nature reserve with themed gardens, walking trails and an outdoor amphitheater, anchored by a 60×40 modular welcome center that provides a rest area for visitors and learning space for students. A second 24×40 maintenance building houses equipment and supplies. The 2400-SF community building is bright and inviting, connected to the gardens with storefront windows and double glass doors that daylight the interior, adding ambiance and energy savings. The building also includes restrooms, storage and a concession area. A metal parapet roof and multi-section shade canopy customize the exterior.
- A 2×14 custom metal canopy creates a sheltered, welcoming entrance
- An ice cream serving window with fly fan offers refreshment for visitors
- A 4-side parapet metal roof elevates aesthetics and helps cool the interior
